Entertainment Administration Program Wins National Award

Back in 2003, I got involved in the curriculum design, instructor sourcing and launching of this program via UBC Continuing  Studies.   To quote one of my colleagues, this recognition has “raised the bar” in the providing and introducing of the necessary education and skills for those who wish a career in entertainment administration.

Here is the announcement:

UBC Certificate in Entertainment Administration Wins National Award!
Dear students, grads, instructors and industry colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that the UBC Certificate in Entertainment Administration program has been awarded the 2009 Program of Excellence Award from the Canadian Association of University Continuing Education The award recognizes innovation and excellence in program development as judged by a committee of professional peers from across the country.

Launched in 2003, the UBC Certificate in Entertainment Administration has grown to include both part-time and full-time certificate programs. It is a unique program that develops business and leadership skills for professionals seeking careers as producers, production managers, or professionals involved in financing, marketing and distribution, entertainment law and business development in the new media and entertainment industry.

A special thanks to our professional instructor team without whom we would have no program, and who are committed to bringing up-to-date content to the program and insights into the ever-changing trends and developments in today’s entertainment industry.

A key to the program’s success has also been its strong industry connection and the resulting relationships graduates develop with fellow professionals and industry leaders. We thank all our industry guest speakers, internship sponsors and many supporters for their continued support of the UBC Certificate in Entertainment Administration program!

We look forward to continuing to develop a first-class program and building on our relationship with all of you over the next years.

Best regards,

Fiona McAuley
Program Leader

    Hello,
I am interested in taking this Entertainment Administration Program but have learned it has been dropped. Why? And, will it return?
    Thank you,
    Michelle

  2. Tom Locke Says:

    Hi Michelle,

Unfortunately it appears that the course will not make a return. The primary reason given for it being dropped was the lack of interest in the program. The person to contact for a more definitive answer would be Fiona McAuley at UBC Continuing Studies who was the Program Leader and currently heads up other programs at the university.
