What Did I Accomplish This Year?

For many of us, this year was a blur.   Technology kept its exponential pace, the worldwide economy and global change remained as  pressing issues and we lost a number of people who have had an impact on our lives.

But what did we do to make our lives count this year?   It’s a good bet that our achievements aren’t right at our fingertips.   So how do we access them?   One approach that I use is to sit down on New Years Day and spend a couple of hours going through my calendar from the previous year.   It’s amazing how just a few notes about an appointment/meeting/event can conjur up memories and results.   From there, I simply write down the ones that were most meaningful to me.   One year I used a dictating machine in order   to capture my initial thoughts and analysis.

Having  gone through  this process the past couple of years, I am getting pretty good at retrieving the highlights of my  year and I am looking to forward to achieving more in 2010.
