Moment in Time

For the past decade I have enjoyed contributing a weekly feature on music  for the longest running live Internet radio show, Treasure Island Oldies  (www.treasureislandoldies.com).

The show, which is hosted by my good friend Michael Godin,  airs Sunday evenings from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm Pacific time.    My five minute  feature, Moment In Time, can be heard about 20 minutes into the third hour of the show (i.e. 8:20 pm Pacific).   The format of the feature is done similar to “The Rest of the Story” spot made famous by the late, great Paul Harvey.

Here’s an excerpt from this week’s spot:

IN THE MID 60’S, AMIDST THE BRITISH INVASION, A QUARTET FROM PATERSON, NEW JERSEY MADE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES THANKS TO THEIR ABILITY TO GAIN POPULARITY BY RE-RECORDING HIT SONGS FROM THE PAST.   ONE OF THEIR NINE CHARTED REMAKES, RELEASED IN 1967, CAN BE TRACED BACK TO 1930 AND WE’LL BE BACK WITH MORE ON THAT MOMENT IN TIME AFTER THIS.

And here’s the first 40+ seconds of this song.   Just click on I Got Rhythm

Hope you get the opportunity to listen in on Sunday to hear the rest of the song  and find out who that group was.   By the way, they are still touring today with their original lead singer.
