Moment in Time – Feb 7, 2010

Last week, I mentioned that over  the past decade I have enjoyed contributing a weekly feature on music  for the  Internet radio show, Treasure Island Oldies  (www.treasureislandoldies.com), hosted by my good friend, Michael Godin, who spins  “lost treasures”  on Sunday evenings from 6:00 pm  – 10:00 pm Pacific time.

As a result I have been asked by some of my colleagues to  provide a weekly update.   To that end, here’s an excerpt from this week’s spot that will air  this Sunday evening (Feb 7) around 8:20 pm Pacific time.

IN THE EARLY DAYS OF ROCK N’ ROLL SOME ARTISTS WERE INSPIRED BY OTHERS AND SOME WERE INSPIRED BY THEIR SURROUNDINGS.   IN THE CASE OF AN EARLY 60’S VOCAL GROUP FROM THE BRONX IN NEW YORK CITY, IT WAS A COMBINATION OF BOTH.   AND WE’LL BE BACK WITH MORE ON THIS GROUP AND THEIR MOMENT IN TIME AFTER THIS.

And here’s the first 30+ seconds of this song.   Just click on    Coney Island Baby

Hope you get the opportunity to listen in on Sunday to hear the rest of the song  and find out who that group was.   By the way, this group, which features the original lead singer,  continues to  perform to pack audiences.
