The Art of Listening

One of the most common traits of engaging people is that they are good listeners.   Through listening and observation, we can develop an empathy for others and their ideas.   Listening  provides the foundation for asking  impactful questions and providing relevant feedback.

Paraphrasing a comment made to me many years ago by Hilda Gregory, former Prinicipal of the Vancouver Oral Centre for Deaf Children, I share this advice with you:   “Listen to understand so that when you speak you will be understood.”
