Celebrating Life at Harrison Hot Springs

Posted by Tom Locke on July 23rd, 2010 filed in Life

I’m just back in town this week after 8 glorious days at Harrison Hot Springs, here in British Columbia.   For the past four years we have  rented a cottage at the “Springs”  and have enjoyed impeccable weather.

My Dad accompanied us the first two years.   He failed to make it up to the cottage last year due to declining health and subsequently passed away.   You may recall that  upon his passing, I  wrote a piece called “The Gift” and have allocated a  page for  it on the website.

This year at Harrison,  family & friends agreed to come together and  pay tribute to my Dad (Bert Locke)  by participating in the inauguaral “BLT Invitational” Bocce Tournament.

This year’s winners Wayne Maunder (close friend) &  Barbara Locke (my sister-in-law) beat yours truly & Isa  Maunder (Wayne’s wife)  in a very competitve  final.   Below is a picture of the newly created and now infamous “BLT” trophy reflecting gamesmanship and my Dad’s passion for food.

My father, Ken Pickford, was with Allied Chemical in the 69s and 70s…oversaw the move from 1155 Dorchester to 237 Hymus. Came upon Wayne’s name in the April/75 Allied Chemical Pocket Guide.
