Knowing Yourself
Posted by Tom Locke on March 9th, 2011 filed in Business, Education, LifeFor the past 8+ years I have been instructing a course on professional skill development that I created for the Entertainment Administration program at UBC. In the course we deal with how one sells or pitches within the industry.
In doing so it becomes apparent that those who are successful in selling or pitching an idea or concept are those who have been able to connect and instill trust with the buyer who becomes confident that implementation and delivery with occur.
In essence, people invest in people. Hence, if you don’t know yourself, how can you sell yourself?
Many in the film industry claim that the value of knowing yourself is paramount (pardon the pun) to success.
You can also look at it this way – you can’t like someone unless you know them.
