Cell Phone Etiquette

The cell phone has become an integral part of our day to day interaction with others.   With that in mind, here are three things to keep in mind in order to maintain effective communication and the respect of others you interact with:

  1. When leaving a voicemail message, speak slowly and clearly and always leave your number even though the receiver of the message may know it.
  2. In physical meetings, turn your cell phone off or put on vibrate.   If you get a call during the meeting that requires your immediate attention, leave the room to answer the call.   Most calls can wait.
  3. Put your own voice on your cell phone message greeting.    Make it professional with an upbeat tone.
